As we can clearly see in this picture, Goku was already an SSJ God at Cell Games. This explains a lot...
-Goku unlocked SSJ God in the spirit room and that was the reason he was so relaxed during the 10 days, not
because of Gohan's power. He just let Gohan have his shot, but he knew all that time that, if things got out
of control, he could go SSJG and finish Cell off. Him pretending to be beaten up by Cell Jrs was just an act, so
that Gohan would gain trust in himself.
-When Gohan (with less than half power) seemed to finish Cell off, it wasn't really him. It was Goku going momentarily
SSJG and doing the job.
-Goku died on purpose when he took Cell to explode on King Kai's planet. That was also an act in order not to reveal to
Gohan his true power. Besides, death didn't make any difference to Goku. With his power, he could've opened a
dimensional portal and return to the living world at any moment. The reason he didn't was that he preferred training to
otherworld than having to deal with Chichi's bs.
-At Buu Saga, Goku could've ended everything at any moment. He just let things prolong in order to give the younger
generation a shot and also have some fun, inwardly laughing at the others' struggles. Also, he never ran the risk of
staying permanently fused with Vegeta. He knew about the potaras lasting for one hour only. Someone told him during
the 7 years in otherworld.
-At Beerus Saga, Goku pretended he didn't have SSJG, so that he first let everyone else have their shot at Beerus. Finally,
he pretended the ritual was the reason he got this power, but, actually, he had been having it all along.
