Probably not, since Bakura (the modern one) is Japanese and that's on the other side of the planet from Egypt. Yami Bakura (who reveals he is both partly Zorc and Thief King Bakura) probably chose him as a vessel because he was the most similar human to his past-self.

So yeah, both questions answered in one. Yami Bakura is the spirit of Thief King Bakura, trapped in the Millennium Ring - but possessed and mostly controlled by a piece of Zorc Necrophades. It seems that before Thief Bakura died, he sealed his soul in the Millennium Ring to continue his vengeance against Atem, and Zorc also sealed a part of himself in the Ring and the two souls fused.

i also heard some say that yugi might be a descendant of the pharaoh. maybe they came-over to japan.

if yami bakura is an amalgamation of thief-king & zorc, then who is thief-king? is he just some random criminal that happened to live around the same time the pharaoh did or is there something deeper?

I don't think there's anything deeper. Thief King Bakura just seemed to want vengeance against the Pharaoh's family for destroying his village and that's that.

i think i heard abt pharaoh's family having something to do with destroying thief-king's village, but wasn't sure abt that. i guess that's the extent of the connection they have then.
