ヤードラット (Yādoratto)
It seems to be at least partly a pun on "rat". In DBS, members of the race's had rodent puns as their names. The ones in the videogame DBZ Sagas were named after noodles, but that game isn't canon.
It seems clear that ラット (ratto) is a pun on "rat", but where does ヤード (yādo) come from? I was thinking maybe it's a pun on 宿 (yado), which means "inn" or "house". That, it's literally just "yard". But I never heard the phrase "yard rat".
Then again, 宿 (yado) seems to mainly mean "inn" and not so much "house".
