What race is King?

Given that Big Mom stated that he was the last survivor of his race, it must be significant. He seems able to project fire from his body at will. What do you think he is?

Considering his wings, I'd imagine him to be some rare sub-species of Sky Islanders with greater wings of black colour. Considering the mystery surrounding his origins, I wouldn't be surprised if his people have something to do with the Poneglyph in Skypiea or the people on the moon.

Couldn’t the wings have grown after consuming his Ancient Devil fruit though? Lafitte from Blackbeard’s crew seems to physically sprout wings from their back when they fly. I wonder what the difference is. King’s wings look exactly like Magellan’s.


I like the sound of him being from a sky tribe like Enel though and it could make sense. Side note.. I find it really odd what Oda has done with the sky people, as well as the chapter covers showing Enel going to the moon. When on earth is any of this stuff going to be covered? Oda appears to be ramping up the pace of the story, so I can’t see these types of things getting well fleshed out.

Lafitte doesn't have the wings permanently though, whereas King has never been seen without them even when just standing around.

I imagine Oda's going to save Enel's plot line until the story's close to the final arc, since he definitely seems to be waiting to just unload everything at once there.
