Prior to DBZ, what was Hercule doing during the events of Dragonball?

Toriyama told a story once about Satan and his master going into a bar and making fun of some dude’s braids. That dude was Tao Pai Pai. Tao killed Satan’s master and Satan himself barely survived.

We also know he was married to a woman named Miguel, Videl’s mom. She died the same year Videl was born, so I guess she died in childbirth?

Did Hercule's master have a name?

No… I looked it up and his dojo was called “Satan’s Castle”, but the master didn’t have a name. Probably something demonic too.
