I don't think that, at this point, AT intended to make Nappa and Vegeta so
much stronger than Raditz. Raditz just said they were ''superior in strength''
and Piccolo said ''so we'll have to face twice your power and more?'' and Raditz
didn't correct him, which means AT still viewed them as relevant to Raditz.

An oozaru with a power level over 3,000 would be a threat to any regular planet. Freeza's weak henchmen seem to rule over their own planets when Freeza is away from the base, and they are at ~1,000 each with little ki abilities. Oozaru Goku would be of great help to any planet being conquered - as I really doubt there were planets with crazy strong mortals.

I think it's just a lie anyway to get him to join.

Considering that Vegeta and Nappa together still hadn't conquered that planet despite the journey taking almost a year, Raditz is probably telling the truth about it being a difficult planet to conquer.

I still fail to see how someone less than 1/40th of Vegeta could "help," though, unless they were going to torture the zenkais into him

As a cannon fodder distraction maybe? Doubt they'd be able to abuse Zenkais via the healing chamber, since abusing the hax Saiyans have would put the group on high alert if a bystander reports to :molest

I think they would train him a bit. For fuck's sake, he lives on a planet with 1/10 of the gravity they growed up.

I doubt that Raditz is lying at all since he really wants Goku to join them. Perhaps Toriyama can't come up a better reason why Raditz wants to visit Goku IMO.

I don't even think Vegeta knew what a zenkai was back then. The way he kept talking about it on Namek made it seem as if it was his first time experiencing one.

Freeza was immediately made aware of Gohan's Saiyan heritage simply because he powered up after healing so I'm sure Vegeta'd heard of the concept by then.

Yeah, that's possible. Vegeta constantly repeating that he was stronger than he ever dreamed and surprised at his new power always gave me the impression he was mostly unaware. Or if he was aware, didn't think a zenkai would've changed his power that much.

Then again, Vegeta did say Goku wouldn't get a zenkai because he was a low class Saiyan even though Goku noted that Vegeta would've gotten a zenkai after eating the senzu, so who knows.
