When a fighter says "less than half"

Is it a safe assumption to say that they are using 40% of their power? Daimao and Future 17 are the examples that come to mind.

I think anywhere from 36% to 45% works fine.

Sure. I'm cool with anything as long as it's also above 33.33% by a decent amount.

I think the closer to 50% the better. Half wouldn't be referenced unless it was pretty close.

Yeah sometimes I force it down some for the sake of making lists flow a bit better or shit like that..although logically 40-45% is probably the best range.

I think its closer to the 40's otherwise the user would use a different term like warming up or something. Or maybe be more inclined to say something around 30.

I originally thought #17 annihilated Gohan with 30% of his power, but that seems too low.

#17 was bragging, it wouldn't make much sense for him to only say "I didn't even use half of my power!" when he could rather say "I didn't use even a third of my power!" or "I didn't use even a fraction of my power!" and further embellish how little power he actually used.

17 had no understanding of ki, so i don't see how he would properly gauge whether he was using one third or one fourth of his power. That's why i'm
saying his ''less than half'' statement means just he was exerting little effort.

He obviously knows how much HE is using if he could determine it was less than half. Similar to frieza however he cant determine how much OTHERS are using.

Yea 40% is generally a good place for the statement. Doesn't have to be so exact but yea considering how he is indeed bragging, the closer to 40% and not 1/3 the better. But, this is most likely overthinking it I would guess.

Not very likely. It doesnt seem like it fits the writing composition in general.
