Why did AT even put the ''Future>Present'' statement?

I mean, Trunks originally introduces the Androids as formidable enemies. Then, after the 19/20 bummer
and the revelation they were not the real Androids, 17/18 show up and ragdoll everyone and the reader
gets the feeling ''wow, so these are the Androids Trunks was talking about; man, they're really worthy
of their reputation'' only for Trunks, in the very next panel, to be like ''whoah, i was just exagerrating
the previous time, the Androids i know weren't that deadly, i could fight them decently''. That ruins all
the feeling the plot had built up until that point.
