Why does everyone hate Great Saiyaman?

I think Great Saiyaman is something that's both distinctly Gohan and distinctly Dragon Ball, but a lot of people hate him and think he's a bitch. I can't help but think people don't quite realize what story they're watching. What's the deal?

It truly rewrote Gohan as the fans knew him. I know goofy shit is the dragon ball way, but not the "Z" way. Sadly Saiyaman was hardly the shittiest part of the Buu saga but it contributed to the cumulative effect of badness.

And also, I don't think Gohan reached that badassary again even with his Ultimate form later in the Boo Arc.

Because to me he is a puke character & Gohan is a craptastic character altogether.
So craptastic + puke equals a wasted character.

I don't mind the Great Saiyaman, but rather the way Gohan behave as his alter ego bothers me a little. I'm ignoring the SSJ2 part (which was an out-character moment anyways), but Gohan is normally a calm, composed and somewhat timid guy. As Saiyaman, he is simply a clown even goofier than Goku, and that's saying something ! I get it that he doesn't want to be recognized, but were the poses really necessary? I doubt it.
