Go to Namek and get one of them to be the new Kami on Earth? It's what they did with Dende and the Dragon Balls would be brought back to Earth. Having them would make fixing the world a whole lot easier.

Maybe spaceships require more energy than time machines, or Bulma's dad got killed too fast for him to teach her how to build a spaceship? AT really didn't explain shit in this arc.

But couldn't he bring one from Galu's timeline? Or borrow a a ship with the navigation already programmed?

Pretty sure they'd need Kaio's help to do that and he was off training Galu after they died, so maybe that's why?

But lol, the Cell arc is full of these types of plot holes. For instance, why wouldn't Goku or Gohan or any of the other fighters use their one day to help Trunks if Goku could use it for a martial arts tournament of all things?

Brings up an off topic question that I had.

Only seen two TB tournaments so far, but it seems they last a few days at least, right? How did Goku expect to finish the tourney in 24 hours. Is that me or should he have needed more time?

In the manga it was always held in a single day. The tournament lasted from noon to around dinnertime apparently; in the anime they added a lot of filler which stretched the tournaments to a few days long.

Because I'm convinced that future Trunks is a complete idiot. Want a list of things that make Trunks a dumbass?

1) Interfering against Freeza, King Cold, and Freeza's men. Trunks was from the future... where he knew that Goku was going to show up and take them all out without any casualties. Trunks got there, looked around, and thought, "Durr, Goku's not here... I know! I'll do it!" So he didn't see anything wrong with the fact that in his dumb little mind, Goku was "late," and then he didn't think that anything would happen to the timeline now that he interfered where he wasn't supposed to and basically exposed himself to the Z Warriors. He sincerely didn't think that any of that would have a consequence. Then when Goku says he could have used his teleportation to get to Earth quicker, Trunks was so stunned that he interfered for no reason. Like dummy, you come from the future; what he ll do you think made Goku "late?" You know that he comes and kills Freeza... Well damn.

2) Allowing himself to be seen by the Z Warriors -- including his freaking parents. Yeah, how could that possibly mess anything up? It's a complete miracle of plot-convenience that he was ever conceived in the first place. In fact, Bulma's and Vegeta's entire motivations changed in this timeline than his since Vegeta was training for the cyborgs, which means that somehow, even though they were in totally different places in their lives than in Trunks's timeline, they still got together. What luck.

3) Telling Goku the truth about who he was. Look, I understand his motivations for warning Goku, about the cyborgs, but... did he have to get into specifics? Couldn't he just say, "Look dude, you see I'm a Super Saiyan; none of that's important. You know I'm telling the truth. I can't get into it right now, but these cyborgs are coming man! You gotta prepare for them! I'll tell you who I am one day, I promise!"? Did Goku really need to know who he was and where he came from?

4) Not taking a Namekian (Cargo perhaps) back into the future with him to become the new God of Earth. Let's face it: Dende leaving New Namek to come to Earth is no different than if another Namekian character came to a different time with Trunks. Just saying...

5) Being so quick to conclude that #19 and #20 are not the "right" cyborgs. Look, I know that I have no choice but to believe this as fact, but Trunks doesn't know anything except for how they look in his time. He was a baby when everything started and nobody would be around to tell the story. He doesn't know that there was no #19 and #20 before #17 and 18 were activated. It's not like #17 and 18 looked differently; they were activated hours after #19 and 20 appeared, so... how would he know if the timeline was going the way it was supposed to or not? My theory was always that Trunks was a little off on his time. He said that Goku died before the Z Warriors fought the 17 and 18... and had he not given Goku the medicine, that's what would have happened. Instead it became, "Goku got the virus later than expected and 17 and 18 showed up later than expected and 19 and 20 are completely new." Well... how would he know that? All he knew was that Goku died before 17 and 18 showed up, which is exactly what would have happened. But, since it was basically told to us by the writer, I have no choice but to follow it.

6) Believing that #16 didn't exist. I mean for real, how would he know? 16's entire motivation was to kill Goku. If Goku was already dead in Trunks's timeline, then 16 would probably just go away and sit on a cliff for eternity or something. There's zero reason for him to be so conclusive that 16 didn't exist in his timeline.

Trunks seems to be basing everything on something that his mother -- who wasn't even there -- told him and he was a baby during the time. If anything deviated from the story, he went, "Oh my god, that's different!!! How could it have changed?!?!" Um maybe it didn't. Maybe you just didn't know about it because there was nobody around to tell you? Meanwhile, he does things that jeopardize time, but doesn't think anything of it, but freaks out at other things.

Trunks is a total idiot and has to be the dumbest time traveler ever. Marty was a better time traveler than this goof.

Trunkses priority, when he was about to return to his future, was to rid it of Androids.
You can't blame him for not coming up with an idea it took us years to think of.

Well this plan of theirs to go into the past took years. It took Bulma years to create the time machine. Thus, Trunks and Bulma had quite some time to think this through. Besides, smart money would say that he should've had some sort of plan before going to the past since they were running on some very limited resources.

Because he has no clue of Namek's location.

Pretty much this. I mean Goku had no clue where to find them and needed King Kai's help and didn't he struggle to find them? Regardless it'd be a difficult tasks for Trunks to find the Namekians. Even then they couldn't bring EVERYONE back.

I think this is most likely.

It seems like Bulma's parents were dead in the future (not really said or anything, but I think it's a fair assumption), so there'd be nobody capable of making a space ship. Bulma's dad couldn't make one on his own remember, he needed to use the Saiyan ship and simply fix it to make it run. I bet there's nobody with the knowledge.

Honestly speaking, why in the hell would Trunks care about bringing anyone back anyway? I mean to be real, Trunks does not have a vested interest in any of the Z Warriors. The only reason why they came up with that plan in the first place was because they thought Goku could defeat them and stop the would-be apocalypse. Then when it set in that Trunks's real timeline wouldn't change, it became a mission to learn how to defeat the cyborgs.

Trunks should not give a crap about bringing anyone back except for Gohan, because that's the only one that he actually knew and cared for. Saying that he'd want to bring them all back because he bonded with them in the "present" timeline would be dumb as well because they would practically be different characters since they wouldn't have that experience with this version of Trunks as the "present" timeline Z Warriors did.

Really, why would Trunks care about bringing anyone back to life except for Gohan? That's just silly. Not to be a downer, but if your parent said, "You know, I had this friend who died when you were a baby and you never knew... I wish he could be brought back," would you give a damn about bringing him back? To you, it would be like, "Eh, whatever."

So who would he be trying so hard to bring those character back for? His mom? Some distant friends of his mom whose loved ones died? He'd probably be more focused on bringing back the cyborgs' innocent casualties. Still, though, probably a good idea to try to get the Dragon Balls, which is why surely he could have come up with a way to do so.

Gotta blame Goku after all, though. Goku can clearly talk to the living after he's dead (like when he announces himself for the Best in the World Martial Arts Tournament). Surely he could have told Trunks how to acquire the Dragon Balls (like where to go, etc.). But alas, he doesn't. Damn you, Goku! Damn you!

Because he forgot lol.

Serious though, I'm surprised after Goku came back to the lookout with Dende, he didn't tell Trunks where New Namek was since he did know everyone in Trunks's timeline was dead.

Trunks has all the requirements to revive Gohan and the others. Goku and Kaio knew the location of New Namek, Dr. Briefs could've made a spaceship out of the material of the pod Goku took to escape Namek or use the spaceship Vegeta was training in during the 3 years skip, put said spaceship inside a capsule, and the Namekians most likely would've let Trunks uses their DBs as he was pure hearted.

And surprisingly no one say Trunks could redo the damage the future Androids did in the future timeline by giving him the location of New Namek and a spaceship with a capsule to store it in.

The Dragon Balls can't revive someone who's been dead for over a year. I mean, this has been muddied up so I don't know if it's still in effect, but that was the whole point of why it would be futile.

Besides, it all goes back to Goku not giving a damn. Apparently Goku could talk to people from Other World, which he never did with Trunks. So dead Goku and living Goku both don't give a crap about Trunks's future lol

To my knowledge of the original manga, there isn't a known time limit for how long a person can remain dead before the're unable to be revived by Porunga. Then again, it has been a while since I read the Freeza Arc, so I'm probably wrong.
