He knocks Trunks out claiming he's the only one who can hope to defeat the twins. And then he takes off to kill them and is really confident he can do so.

What the fuck.

I think he knew it was a suicide mission.

For what purpose? Leave Trunks without anyone to teach him?

He wanted revenge against the Androids and was prepared to give his life for it. Maybe he thought he could take 1 out if he got lucky. Obviously he wasn't thinking rationally there, or he would have stayed in seclusion with Trunks. I don't think you can rationalize his decision.

I'm shaking my head really hard at this part of the story. Future Gohan is so retarted.

While I don't disagree, from his perspective, he watched his best friends get massacred by the Androids.. To seek revenge is really not out of the ordinary, even if it was a suicide mission.

Well they were attacking again, Gohan was never one to stay back and watch when he could help. He also tried to help Piccolo against 3rd Form Freeza but there he also got a little bit of a rage boost it seemed.

I don't see the problem with it? Future Gohan has had enough. He's done with the chaos, the brutality, the anarchy. It ends now. He feels he is strong enough to be able to pull it off, but it's highly risky, he has made the decision to go through with it, no matter what. Trunks wants to offer help, but Gohan knows it is the last chance for humanity should Gohan fail. So he does not allow Trunks to go with him, because he is humanity's only hope should he fail. He's not hoping to fail, but he knows it's a possibility. Unfortunately for Gohan, the Androids were much more powerful than he expected and they take him out. However, him not allowing Trunks to go is the exact reason why his timeline is saved. Trunks and Bulma figure out how to save their world and it doesn't happen without Gohan.

What is there not to understand bud?

Gohan was absolutely floored when No.17 told him they had been using less than half power. Gohands definitely thought he could accomplish something before that point was made.

Gohan was strong enough to have a decent chance to defeat both androids at the same time. He's super strong.

I don't see the issue, either. Gohan knew there was a great chance he wouldn't have survived the battle, but he was confident enough to believe he had a chance at doing something. He made the sensible choice leaving Trunks behind.

What did you expect him to tell Androids? ''I have 30% a chance of beating you and I'll do my best''?
It is natural that he wanted to show confident.

He shits a brick when 17 reveals he's gonna kill him, so that was no bravado.

That was because 17 revealed how little of his power he had shown.
