Why it makes perfect sense for King Chappa to be stronger th

From a story-telling perspective it makes perfect-sense for King Chappa to be higher than Tao-Pai-Pai, and here’s why.

Goku before the tournament is weaker.

Goku trains a lot for the next tournament.

In the preliminaries his first match is against King Chappa, someone who he’d supposedly have had a lot of trouble with or even lost, if he hadn’t trained. Goku however wins the match easily, without even trying and makes him look like a joke. That shows how much Goku improved straight away. Right away at the preliminaries. Goku won easily against someone that was at-least on-par with him before training for the tournament, so it shows he got much higher.

If anything, Taopaipai was just reputation by 22nd TB standards too. Roshi already knew that Goku was far stronger than the version of him that destroyed the Red Ribbon Army, yet he didn't know Goku was capable of beating the world's greatest assassin, despite having already seen the full extent of his power at that time. It makes a lot more sense for Roshi to have overestimated Tao rather than Chappa.

Also Krillin & Yamcha say that after Goku defeated King Chappa easily, that he shouldn't have been using his full-power so early on in the tournament, not knowing that he hadn't gone all-out. Which implies that they probably couldn't have done it so easily. IIRC Yamcha says something else about it, too.

They were probably just going by his reputation. At-least Master-Roshi.

I mean Goku kills the World's Greatest Assasin, and he doesn't even tell them until then, and treats it as if it wasn't a big deal.

Everything points to Chappa living up to his legend. Jackie, Krillen and Yamcha are all shitting their pants at the thought of fighting Goku.

Yamcha doesn't think anyone could beat Chappa that fast, Krillen and Yamcha all but admit inferiority and Jackie considers himself in big trouble.

Let's not forget that they aren't retards and can judge Chappa by his speed as well and no one makes any suggestions that Chappa is not the beast he was made out to be. The only thing that's changed is that they didn't think Goku had improved while now after the Chappa fight, they know he has improved remarkably.

Chappa should be able to give Krillen and Yamcha a quality fight.
