I tell you why because multipliers aren't a thing. OK that's what I think, but why didn't he already realize Goku was superior to him since in equal forms Goku was > Vegeta?

Multipliers are pretty clearly not set.

Think of how much stronger goku's base is at the end of namek, then they both train 3 years, and vegeta's SSJ ends up on par or better with goku's. Unless vegeta gets a huge boost, his SSJ transformation has a much greater boost than goku.

Except Vegeta doesn't need a calculator, if he thinks his superior position won't change if everyone is at equal forms/conditions. He said so himself, if regular Goku was superior to him (when he isn't transformed) then we'd have seen his reaction.

Vegeta didn't know yet Goku had SSJ2. So, he knew Goku would be better than him at equal forms (base, SSJ) but
expected to beat him with SSJ2.

He said though at equal forms it's all the same anyway. So he expected to be stronger than Base Goku in his own Base, but if Goku (vs Yakon) was already superior to his base, then that'd have been noted I think. Especially since I doubt Vegeta'd want to defeat Goku with Super-Saiyan 2, whilst he was only a Super-Saiyan.
