Even Goku hadn't seen a KHH prior to meeting Roshi, despite his relationship with Grandpa Gohan.
Was Yajirobe taught by a samurai school? He has long hair (samurai often had a topknot), draws his sword and attacks with his sword like a samurai and he wears Japanese sandals (seems they're not exclusively Japanese or samurai historically. So idk if they are a strong samurai signifier). But why would he be so fat and live in the woods, all on his own (btw what effect did that have on his mind?)? His physique, asocial behaviour and lack of etiquette makes me wonder if he was just a samurai otaku who watched samurai TV shows and he copied the moves. He wasn't surprised by the KHH because he'd seen martial arts TV shows and he was so delusional that he already assumed they were real and that 1 shaolin monk can beat 100 Jon Joneses. Fuckin weeb.
