Yeah Itachi, I've seen a theory that thinks that he will actually take Kaido's shadow, but I still find it unlikely. Unless he gets retconned like Crocodile did.

Due to his link with Kaidou, he may become a temporary ally of the Straw Hats in order to get payback. I could see him becoming quite relevant again, as one of the Marines at the end of Thriller Bark stated that Moria once rivalled Kaidou. Most likely, he'll either get the Crocodile treatment or get great results from timeskip training.
