Garlic Jr Saga
I think it was a better sequel after 23rd TB. Instead of the asspulled 'they're all aliens' bullshit, Goku remains a
unique human, Piccolo remains the demonic half of a God and the next saga builds on the previous ones. We
get to know more about the Kamis of the ancient past, the lookout's history and stuff.
Piccolo is forced to team up with his hated enemy and, at the end of the saga, Gohan saves the day with a burst
of rage that shows his potential. Goku sacrifices himself to save his son, like in canon against Raditz. His death
is permanent so that his sacrifice has some meaning. Piccolo, albeit in death, accepts Goku as a hero and friend
and decides to become Gohan's mentor, thus denoting the torch being passed from Goku to the next generation.

Androids Saga
A mysterious adult warrior appears and claims to be Future Gohan. He warns them about Androids, who will be
created by Dr Gero, a scientist of RRA wanting revenge against Goku. During the saga, Future Gohan becomes
another mentor for Kid Gohan and the two of them become good friends and spend many character developping
moments. No overcomplicating things with Cell and a messy timeline system.
Perhaps some Arale cameo, since she also is a robot.
A good side story would be some drama between Bulma and Yamcha. They break up like in canon, except Bulma
is the unfaithful one.

Buu Saga
Goku uses his day on Earth through Witch Baba. King Kai appears for the first time. He's the galaxy supervisor
and his supremacy in ranking will not be retconned a budzillion times with new asspulled deities. King Kai
has Kaioshins' role, Piccolo is majinized instead of Vegeta and Buu remains Fat and gagly for the whole saga
instead of transforming into a cliche demonic character.

You're right. Anything without power levels to debate about is terrible.

You cut out what the Saiyan arc added to Goku's character. :giraffe

Not to mention cutting out both Piccolo and Gohan's character development by just having things be a 180 change due to one battle.

You should make a list about this then.

Not necessarily. Piccolo's development can come full circle after his majinization.

Using possession to influence a character's change in personality isn't organic development, just character rewriting.
