Would DBZ have been better without Freeza?

Vegeta was introduced as an independent, wandering warrior who believed to be the strongest in the universe.
Suddenly introducing a creature far stronger than him that was bossing him around felt asspulled. Do you think
Namek Saga would have been better if the race for the dragonballs on Namek was just Vegeta vs Krillin/Gohan?

Freeza transforming so many times and still being able to go 100% on top of that was what sullied the arc. Freeza's existence wasn't any more of an asspull than Daimao claiming that nobody can defeat him, only for it to be revealed that Kami's assistant can wipe the floor with him.

Freeza was Toriyama's best overall villain outside of the Old Demon King Piccolo, so no.

Frieza and SSjin Goku cemented DBZ as one if not the greatest anime ever IMO so Frieza was indeed needed.

No. Vegeta would not be as impressive a character if he wasn't up against Freeza. The race for the dragon balls would not have been done under a constant state of fear and Vegeta would have got wrecked by the Namek warriors anyway.

Cutting out second form would take out two of Gohan and Krillin's most impactful moments and the lack of build up would be boring. If you want to jump to final form you must have about 40 seconds of stamina in bed.

He wasn't introduced as a lone warrior. In his first appearences it's alluded that he's got a boss.

Removing the iconic villain which could result that no SSjin Goku either would hurt the franchise IMO.
