Would Piccolo's plan to save Goku from #19 have worked?

When Goku was getting his energy drained from #19, Piccolo feigned defeat in order to, presumably, slip past Gero and knock #19 off Goku. If we pretend Vegeta never showed up, do you think this plan would have worked?

I personally have my doubts. The main thing that foils the plan is Gohan going to Piccolo's side. Because of that, Gero would be keeping an eye on Piccolo's area, thus rendering any sort of sneak attack practically doomed to fail. Piccolo could've prevented this by telepathically communicating with Gohan before he got hit.

I don’t think it would. Granted the Androids were nowhere as strong as he initially expected, but it’s still two on one nonetheless, and he can’t allow either of them. He could win if Gohan and co. help him properly, but it would take too long and Goku would likely succumb to his heart attack by that point.

I'm mainly only referring to the part where Piccolo focuses on getting #19 off of Goku. What happens afterwards is anyone's guess, but Piccolo clearly planned on getting #19 off Goku before actually engaging the androids.

Do you think Piccolo would be able to get to #19 before Gero could stop him?

I think so. Both of the Androids are still weaker than Piccolo iirc.

Assuming #19 doesn't let Goku go to help #20, I'm pretty sure Piccolo would easily succeed. He smacked down a stronger #20 without much effort chapters later, and #20 is most likely stronger than any incarnation of #19.
