x10 Multiplier

How do people make the 10x multiplier work for SSJ? I know most use the 50x, and the rest are in the minority. But considering the earlier use of Kaioken (x10, x20), I wonder how a 10x boost for SSJ can be justified.

Not looking to start an argument or put down anyone who thinks this way. I was only curious how they get passed the obvious problems that arise when using this number.

Are you asking for a reason it would become 10x? Or why it would be used over Kaioken if it became 10x? I can come up with a decent-ish answer for either.

More so, I'm looking for how x10 can be made to work, when it was established that Kaioken x20, only a few chapters before the transformation into SSJ, was shown to be seriously lacking in power compared to Freeza.

I know Toriyama made some comments about initially thinking SSJ would be x10 in power. And I can understand why an SSJ x10 would be preferable over a Kaioken x10, considering the strain and control issues.

I guess I was raised in a world of x50 for SSJ, and going down as low as x10 doesn't seem to add up when I look at the Namek Saga as a whole. But people still use the x10, right?

I just go with Toriyama forgetting about Kaioken till DBS. The interpretation I get from his interview is that he thinks of it as 10x.

That's fair, if you're looking to break the 4th wall a little bit with your interpretations. Certainly, I can see how x10 keeps calculations and power inflation a little more under control after the events on Namek.

Yeah in the interview he said he thought of SSJ as nothing as extravagant as 50x when writing it, only 10x what Goku was capable of, and he can't have been referring to 10x the 20x Kaioken so it makes some sense

I tend to just use the 50x for simplicity's sake and to explain why the 20x Kaioken isn't used, even if it made the SSJ3 strain look like a picnic by comparison on Namek

I think, by SSJ scene, kaioken was forgotten and AT viewed 10x KK Goku as his base power, so that 10x is actually 100x pre kaioken power.
This suits really well if you apply 2.25x KHH boost to 20x KK.

It's pretty obvious that on namek SSJ is a 40+ times multiplier.

It's after that that it's lower, which is pretty much what the toriyama quote says.

Just skip the Namek arc and start using 10x boost from Android arc.

If you want to go with 10x, just theorize that base level increases by 5x after the first transformation.
