Yamucha is the same as when he "fought" Gero, while Piccolo is freshly arrived on Namek.

There's a lot of emphasis placed on "Don't show up unless you're strong enough", so I'd like to think none of the fighters were stupid enough to show up with a power that's only relevant mid way through the last saga.

Did he? If so I might reconsider my stance. I admittedly haven't really fully read through the Android arc in over a year, and kind of just assumed Yamaha wasn't multiple times weaker than Tenshinhan.

Yamcha doesn't make much comment on his own training. The most we can gauge is from his statement of not believing what Trunks said.

Honestly I'd like to know what that projection for Goku was. Above peak Saiyan saga Goku for sure. But I wonder what Gero calculated Goku to be, because it would give us a pretty clear indication of where Yamucha stands.

On another note, I have seen people place post Kio's planet Piccolo at 250,000. So I wasn't entirely about trolling Yamucha here.

imo, Piccolo doesn't have any reason to be that strong after six days at King Kai's planet, especially when he doesn't train any harder than Goku.
