Surely you've played this game. Slightly roleplayin.

Pick a team of five to defend the world. Your "Ultimate Team" face an unknown threat. Personally I always pictured the aliens from ID4 as my generic enemy, but it can be anything.

Ever talked about this with your friends? Who's your team of 5 to defend Earth from imminent danger?

What's the limit for their abilities?

I'd assume based on the already posted rosters, power/speed stats are equalised to some extent? If they weren't, you could practically have something like the 5 Bronze Saints from Saint Seiya, which are as close as you could get to ultimate without nigh-omnipotence or really haxed Superman. Assuming they are equalised:

#1 - Kenshiro - Nearly limitless potential to how Hokuto Shinken could be utilised. Internal destruction that makes superior strength meaningless, some mind/muscle control over people, can combat special altering techniques and is near impervious to most attacks whilst in Musou Tensei. Also has genius intellect and senses far beyond those of any normal human.

#2 - Higashikata Josuke - Can heal others with Crazy Diamond, but unlike most healers, also has a good amount of power to defend himself.

#3 - Practically any of the Gold Saints (other than Aldebaran, Aiolia and Aiolos) - Most of them have abilities such as dimensional travel, soul manipulation, OHKO moves, etc.

#4 - Toriko - High skilled in environmental and biological knowledge, plus Ultimate Routine is very haxed.

#5 - Cutie Honey - A team needs it's fanservice character.

What's the limit for their abilities?

It's just for fun, but lets go with what CC said. A little nerfing, but not too much.

 

[Satsuki]

1.) Accelerator (Toaru Majutsu no Index) - can handle any physical attack
2.) Oshino Shinobu (Monogatari) - Immortal Vampire with incredible strength. Can only fight at night though.
3.) Gilgamesh (Fate) - Mega boss and doesn't take well to people trying to soil his "possessions," as in the entire universe lol.
4.) Fiamma of the Right (Toaru Majutsu no Index) - has power that can pretty much match almost anything but can't use it infinitely.
5.) Resurrected Dark Matter (Toaru Majutsu no Index) - infinite regen unless they find his core. On top of that, he is the 2nd strongest esper behind Accelerator.

 

[Goddess Ultimecia]

1.) The Last Dragonborn (The Elder Scrolls)- Many shouts ranging from disarming people to downright ripping their souls out and consuming them.

2.) James Heller (Prototype)- Can consume people and take on their memories as well as their forms. Also can manipulate his virus to form living weapons.

3.) Squall Leonheart (Final Fantasy 8)- A highly trained soldier, so much so that the trainees are used to fight off entire armies as their ENTRY EXAM. Squall happens to be the leader of this group, and in doing so has some leadership experience. He also has a large array of magic that ranges from making enemies attack one another to one-hit killing others.

4.) Gohan- trained by Goku and Piccolo yadayada you know the story, he's being used for his random spikes in power due to rage, which Squall can take advantage of with his Berzerk spell.

5.) Asura (Asura's Wrath)- The guy with a nearly limitless rage, you know... the one who killed God because it made his daughter cry. With Squall and his Berzerk spell it is nearly unbeatable.
