Your Thoughts on the Egyptian God Cards?

So what do you think about the Egyptian god cards? Do you currently own any of them in your collection or perhaps you have owned them in the past? I still want these cards so badly... I've only been wanting them since I was 13 or 14 years old, so about 11 or 12 years now. My best friend had Obelisk and another one of my friend's had Slypher the Sky dragon... I really do envy the fact that they had two out of the three cards. Yes they are pretty overpowered, and of course are banned from tournaments but we still dueled with them. I recall dueling my friend who owned the Obelisk the Tormentor card and I beat him in that duel. xD I'll have to see how much they're going for online I guess...

I had Ra. It was the banned edition that just says ??? under its attack and defense. I treasured that card because nobody else had an Egyptian God. Somehow I lost it, but I'm sure it is somewhere in my house. Maybe in the summer I will tear down the basement and try to find it.

I might buy them again.

Me and my friends never cared about what cards were banned. A district tournament I competed in and won 3 years straight didn't care. But I thought the Egyptian Gods were some of the beast and broken cards in the anime. I didn't want any of them besides Slifer to be honest but I never even got 1 copy of them, I never even had a single piece of Exodia yet I have beaten the Egyptian Gods and Exodia in the hot years I've played the game.

Now I'd want them for collectors sake but for use they've been depowered horribly (except Obelisk and Slifer to an extent) but Ra however... I don't think I've seen anything more nerfed in my entire life.

I have multiple sets of the original God Cards. I had the new Slifer but I sold it when I needed money. Not a fan of the new Obelisk design, and definitely not getting the new Ra. If I play with the God Cards, I play them how the anime portrayed them, not their nerfed effects.

I had two sets of the original God Cards. Never really played the game irl after the original series ended.

I've got the original GBI set, and the LC set of the god cards. But non of the playable ones.

All of them. Obelisk is the only one you need for a few Side Decks.

Ra's received a new Phoenix mode card, apparently. Now it costs a minimum of 4-5 cards (2 of the regular Ra) just to make it actually usable. 2

More cards = more money.

Instead of just, you know, making an errata for the original Ra.

I just don't understand why you couldn't just have Ra normal summoned with the 4000 ATK instead of leaving it a useless piece of cumbersome shit if you use the monster destruction effect? It makes much more sense for the life draining part to be usable after being special summoned rather than restricting that too as if it wasn't already weak enough.

Ra's received a bunch of new support cards in the OCG. These support effects include allowing Ra to be special summoned (instead of just lifting that dumb "cant be special summoned" restriction through errata) and allowing Ra to absorb the combined ATK and DEF of its three tributes just like in the manga/anime. So now Ra has 3 modes, 3 support spell/trap cards and it's still inferior to the original anime Ra. Nice.

Better than Slifer now, but it takes too much work to be better than Obelisk.

The new Ra supports makes him the best of the Egyptian Gods for sure, as he should be. It's still just a shame it took this long and this many extra cards for it to happen.

Yeah it takes like half a dozen spell and trap cards and three modes of Ra to almost come close to replicating the anime Ra's effects. And the original Ra is still garbage when it isn't summoned without Sphere Mode or its other supports. Gay.
