The Kaio-ken technique, is there an equivalent to the concept in real life?

Yes, humans have been known to exhibit multiple times their usual strength in life-or-death situations, often injuring their muscles, bones, and/or blood vessels in the process. It's called hysterical strength. Most examples are anecdotal, but there are enough that I believe it to be a real thing.

Perhaps the best documented case recently would be Eddie Hall's 500kg world record breaking deadlift. He talked to a psychologist who helped train him how to tap into that kind of mental state and he said he did it, blanked out, and when he came to, he was holding over 1,000 lbs in his hands.
