But what is kind-of annoying is different translations, especially because the sub-titles take so many liberties with the translating. Why can’t they just translate the dialogue as-is?

I think so. It’s from hianime. Is FUNimation known for bad sub-titles?

I don't know. I don't believe so, but I'm mostly just familiar with the accuracy level of the DB subs.

I can mostly tell how bad sub-titles after years of watching anime in original. It’s very annoying & distracting to me

To not spam: I watched some dbz clips today, and Goku meeting Piccolo in hell in DBGT. Was it a waste of time? I'm not sure, but I gravitate towards yes. They were nice clips of dialogue or character relation moments.
