Let's clash narratives and see who has the best handle on things.

For me, I prefer to have immensely strong Kaioshins. Kibito spoke about SSJ2 Gohan as he was powerful, but not in a way he didn't think a Kaioshin to be that level.

South Kaioshin is a freakin boss. The more powerful we can make this dude, the cooler things are.
Dai Kaioshin likewise is awesome. I rather have these two be strong not weak.

East Kaioshin is piss weak Base Saiyan fodder. He didn't finish his education. All Kaioshins are using Potara to strengthen themselves and they all fused with very strong beings while being very strong initially themselevs.

They never got around teaching East Kaioshin this.

Dai Kaioshin doesn't weaken Buu, Buu takes on his power.

Dai Kaiohin = Fat Buu

South Kaioshin gave Kid Buu a run for his money, Kid Buu absorbs him because he never ran into such a powerful being.

Dai Kaioshin deos that super move on Buff Buu, Buff absorbs him due to respecting the attack, not necessarily his ki level.

He's sismilar to East Kaioshin here because he has massive abilties that allow him to punch way above his weight class.

Dai Kaioshin taught East Kaioshin those cool psychic moves.

North and West Kaioshin are SSJ2 tier.

Dai and SOuth are SSJ3 tier.

They all could have obviously picked up the Z-Sword. There was no need for such a weapon in their time. They were true masters of the universe.

Dabura gets smoked by each of them.

Ok now you go

But why would none of them pull out the Z sword if a rusty SSJ Gohan was able to?

The context seems pretty clear imo. Kibito tells us that it was commonplace for Kaioshins to try to pull out the sword and none were able to, and then he even doubts that Gohan would be able to.

Why would they not try to pull out a sword of legend?

It doesn't seem like there are any aside from East Kaioshin. Kaioshin speaks about them like a relic from the past.

I don't know for sure. South Kaioshin is the only questionable one when it comes to that. But given that Dai Kaioshin weakened Boo, it's fair to say we have no idea how absorbing a Kaioshin will change Boo's power. So he could be weaker for all we know.

Why would Kid Buu absorb South Kaioshin?

Was this shown?
In the anime. Dai Kaioshin uses some super cool "Cuts your opponents to shreds" type of attack that seems very special. Dai Kaioshin clearly senses just how powerful Buff Buu is and thinks his attack can take him out and is only surprised by his regeneration.

The Kaioshin Past anime adaption seems solid to me, unless you have any issue with it? Is it the sword issue for you?

The sword is the biggest one for sure. I just can’t see all 4 of the Kaioshin not trying to pull the sword out when it was treated as a legend. For what reason would they decide not to try?

If Boo wanted to use that attack he probably wouldn’t need to absorb Dai Kaioshin to do so. He learned Kibitoshin’s teleportation from seeing it once. To me it’s like Boo recognized how wild the boost was from South Kaioshin and was hoping he would get the same effect from Dai Kaioshin.

Could be. So are we really going with the idea that Dabura can kick all of their asses?
