You are totally discounting Freeza's feat. Freeza is way above the Kamehameha. The amount of power to stop a blast in its tracks like that is absurd. Freeza is at least 1.25x stronger.

It’s not about the feat itself, it’s about Goku’s reaction. That gambit should have worked, but the fact it didn’t proves Freeza wasn’t at FP yet somehow.

Yeah that should be it. Freeza putting out actual effort gives Goku a peek into Freeza’s hidden power somehow.

You literally just had this conversation with Pyro. The Kamehameha not working somehow meant Freeza was hiding power. No such thing happens with Goku vs Piccolo Daimao.

The whole situation is weird. Freeza tells us later on when he goes to 70%, so he randomly powers up by what, an extra 5% just to block this attack? The act of blocking the attack could be all Goku needed to believe Freeza wasn't bluffing. Freeza took no damage from the attack so he clearly has far more in the tank, regardless of if he powered up to block the KHH.

Yeah, it truly is a weird segment. We should dig in. I'll come up with something where we can hyper analyze it.

Goku: 5,000,000
Kaioken x10: 50,000,000
Kaioken x20: 100,000,000
Super Saiyan: 250,000,000

Freeza 100%: 240,000,000
50%: 120,000,000

Freeza should be capable of blocking the KHH with one hand, though it should hurt him. The gap is smaller than Raditz catching the KHH, so his pain makes sense. I think his lack of damage is more than enough proof that he's holding back. I don't see a need for a small power up. Fuck you @Kyo.

Non sequitur. Durability scales with your current power (directly shown when Krillin maims Vegeta), and if you're strong enough then you won't take damage. That's all that proves.

This is Piccolo taking no damage from an attack, proving nothing except that the attack (possibly after being neutralized to some degree by his own blast) was too weak.

One possible scenario, I think EV brought it up once, is that Goku is hoping the 1/2 power is a bluff so he could cause more damage to Freeza, as if, Freeza's remaining half reserves weren't in effect in terms of his reflexes, striking strength, speed, but the damage still wouldn't be the same if it landed on a 50/100 Freeza instead of om a Freeza who was trying his best and was still at that level...

I disagree though... If Freeza is suppressed to a level, he's using the overall fighting prowess that that level entails, which would be kinda random imo not to include durability... It's not like his reserves were in effect there only because they existed, since they weren't in usage. For example, Freeza was really afraid to the point of quickly releasing a Kiai with 70% of his powers, when ssj Goku initially thought of finishing Freeza before he could power up to 100%...

I think the main deal isn't the amount of power lost by fighting when holding back a portion of the power. The amount of damage inflicted to a fighter using an x% amount of their power should, more likely imo, be the same amount of damage suffered by a fighter who has that same x% power level but is fighting at 100% instead... Only advantage is that the holding back fighter may not be as worried, as their reserves would cover up the power damage they suffered in that holding back situation...

Might be the answer otherwise how is Spirit Bomb explained? He should be dead and he’s still at 50% power.
