SBV1 and Super Vegetto

So there’s this common interpretation than when Baby says “I’ve obtained the greatest of Saiyan power!” he’s indirectly comparing himself to Super Vegetto, otherwise the statement is redundant since he’d already beat Goku before getting his Super Baby 1 form.

But if that was the intent of the writers, why make it so veiled? Goku’s response (“It’s true! I never felt a Ki so large!”) is too vague (He says the same thing about Fat Janemba before kicking his ass).

There’s actually a similar quote in the original manga that proves redundant statements aren’t that uncommon:

Chapter: 506 (DBZ 312), P3.5
Context: after Boo ‘absorbs’ Vegetto but nothing happens
Boo: “Hmm…Well, at any rate, I absorbed him. I have now become the strongest majin; without a doubt, there is nobody throughout the various worlds who compares to me…That’s fine…”

Baby, like Boo, is just highlighting his massive superiority.

If we were to apply meaning to the quote outside of the Vegito stuff, it's possible this speaks more to pre-tail Goku. His confidence against Base Baby was solid until his kid body sapped SSJ3 out of him in no time.

Buu Arc Vegito (anime) being a peer to Baby Arc Goku (form for form) is fitting. Both capable of pushing back against a Buuhan tier enemy in base.

How do you reconcile the "strongest ki ever felt" quote @GSM123? Who could it possibly be talking about when all of the previous benchmarks were surpassed by Rildo.

He’s just agreeing with Baby claiming to be the strongest. It’s a reactive statement.

Also Goku doesn’t include himself in such lines anyway (See Fat Janemba).
