Ki control is mainly for surpassing your physical limitations. Chi-Chi, Ox-king, and Yajirobe probably only used ki to get stronger (though Yaj can sense ki in the anime). Characters like Chaozu focus more on amplifying their techniques than their fighting prowess.

Cell's regeneration is definitely more advanced than Piccolo's.

Gyumao is obviously not a normal Earthling. He is gigantic and probably has an insane amount of physical strength, on top of being Muten Roshi 2nd best student behind Grandpa Gohan. She's just naturally that strong, no different from Yajirobe.

Chi-Chi might've been a little stronger, but BoDB Krillin actually seems like he knows how to fight so it could go either way.

Definitely would've been better than forcing one of their non-canon movies into the main story.
