What's wrong with analyzing the semantics? From my perspective, Cell is stronger, but he doesn't need to be monstrously strong. Vegeta just made a yuge deal about regaining his throne as #1, then he gets his pride shattered by 18, and then Cell and Piccolo are both stronger than him.

I have the team within the same realm of power. 17 is in a realm with 18 and Kamicolo. The best chance the team have is busting a movie 7 or movie 8 move.

Maybe he was including the Hypothetical Perfect Cell, like when Piccolo said Cell he's stronger
than Androids when that was definitely not the case. All the other gaps implications at Androids
Saga lean more towards Ginger Cell~Unmastered SSJs.

In the quote, Vegeta saying "they are" means that it is reference to the present, not the future. Plus, it wasn't guaranteed that Cell would reach his perfect form, as he was still weaker than the androids and Kamiccolo, whereas Vegeta's statement is very matter of fact.

Anyway, here's a counter for you guys. If Cell is above Vegeta to the level where he can one shot him, why doesn't he just steal his energy on the spot? He could easily do it if he's like 1.33x > Vegeta or more. Yet he seems almost frightened by Vegeta's ki and makes note that he needs to hurry the fuck up and get stronger.

It could be the fact that Cell tries to fight Vegeta, then Piccolo would notice and kill him.

Piccolo couldn't one-shot Cell and claims at the same time he should've defeated him easily.

Vegeta being a good deal weaker than Cell doesn't necessitate a one shot rape.

It's all really the same though. This is the same gap between Vegeta and Dodoria, and Vegeta "one shotted" him if you will. Cell could punch Vegeta a few times and absorb him at a gap like this, it doesn't even have to be a one shot.

But he ran all the way there by foot with his ki suppressed and Piccolo's maybe a mile behind him seething at losing his ass. Running the risk of even doing a power up alerts Piccolo to him considering that small shifts in ki when he killed some fodder humans was detected, so fighting a SSJ who he'd at least take a minute to beat is absurd.

While I agree fighting Vegeta there is a retarded move for Cell, the quote about having to hurry certainly implies they are still within each other's grasp. Vegeta can still stall Cell at his level of power. I just don't think someone at a 1.2x gap can stall at all but that's just me.

What gap do you have for Post Roast Piccolo and SSJ Vegeta/Cell Jr.? Would you say Piccolo would be capable of stalling one?

Those are quite different circumstances. I think the Juniors could one shot Piccolo more or less at the end of the fight.

While I do think Cell/Vegeta isn't a gigantic gap here, he also says "He's also stronger than I expected" implying he feels threatened by guys like Piccolo and Vegeta surpassing his data on them collectively, not necessarily just Vegeta being that close to him. Cell thinks of Trunks as a pushover more or less, and Vegeta's not that ahead of Trunks
