Anime: Are Present Androids stronger than Future Androids?

In the anime, when Trunks says, "The Androids of my timeline weren't that horribly strong; I could put up a good fight," he's obviously referring to the fight we saw in the TV special. But in that fight, it turned out the Androids were toying with him, since his huge (probably amplified) blast couldn't damage them at all. And since Trunks's reasoning was that he could put up a good fight, which was only because the Androids were toying, we can deduce Present Androids=Future Androids.

I think the anime may not be following the special they made, since the statement they used came directly from the manga. So as far as the anime goes, what's shown in the anime is what needs to be considered --- present androids were way steonger. As for TOEI... That may be different, but they just have a history in inconsistency depictions of battle, so I think the standard present >>> future reamains the same.

The manga Trunks vs twins wasn’t even shown, it could be very similar to the anime version.

Present > future because it’s presented as a undisputed fact that’s confirmed in the Daizenshuu 7.

Yeah I think they are the same. The only one who seems to think Present > Future is Trunks, who the author lets us know was being deceived.

Cell never notices a difference and he has more accurate data. Cell knew he wasn’t as strong as the Androids despite being significantly stronger than Vegeta.

Vegeta should be on par with the Future Androids Trunks knows of.

It could have damaged them, which is why they dodged it. They say that while he had improved, his attacks were too easy to read and Trunks says that they're avoiding his attacks by a hair's breadth.

It couldn't be. Future Gohan was one-shotted by half strength Future Seventeen alone in the manga, whereas he held his own against both androids in the anime. Future Trunks at 17 isn't any stronger than Gohan was, so he wouldn't have done any better against them.
