Anime with good filler?

Normally filler is just straight-up :trash :trash :trash . Since the companies don't seem to care and just want to keep the series on air until the manga has over-taken them again, but sometimes they can be good (because either the companies care to make good material or it's just catching lightning in a bottle kind-of thing).

Even-though I can't think of a lot.

Gintama's filler is excellent, mainly as the episodic and humorous nature of the series makes it hard to tell what is and isn't filler unless reading the manga's entirety. Some of my favourite episodes of the anime are filler ones, in fact.

Other good filler include:

- Asgard Arc of Saint Seiya. It's not exactly outstanding, though it at least offers some things the manga canon never did, such as making the God Warriors more fleshed out villains than most of the Marina Generals or Spectres that succeeded them as the henchmen villains of later arcs.
- Atlantis Arc of Yu-Gi-Oh! Not much of a change from the quality of the series, though it contained some good duelling strategies, at least until the PIS at the end of the arc.
- Filler in City Hunter. Like Gintama, it has an episodic nature, so filler isn't much of a divergence in quality.
- Many of the filler scenes in Hokuto no Ken that make Kenshiro even more badass, such as Kenshiro destroying a tank and Kenshiro VS Glenn.
- The post-Four Beast section of Toriko's anime. This was one of the few good things from the Toriko anime, since it offered a plausible and more exciting version of Toriko testing his new power than the manga did.

I honestly enjoyed some DBZ filler, like the Otherworld Tournament.

The one way in even somewhat episodic series, you can tell what is filler and what is not, is the style and how the episode was written.

I would say One Piece filler is the only tolerable filler, but just look at how they handled Dressrosa.

According to a few things I've heard from CC, One Piece has some at least mediocre level filler, but I don't know what "good filler" is, lmao. I honestly have not seen it.

Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex had several good filler episodes.

There is no such thing as an anime with good filler.

Usually the only filler I actually end up liking isn't manga to anime filler. It's just episodes in a show that don't move the plot forward at all.

That's normally what filler does anyway, right?! They can't change the status-quo, so they do something to just keep the show going.

Yeah, but for some reason that type of filler is still a lot better than filler episodes in adaptations. Probably because that type of filler is the lowest common denominator as far as animation script writing etc.

I'm not usually a fan of fillers but out of the Big 3, One Piece seems to have many fillers episodes that are bearable to watch. I've never enjoyed the Naruto: Shippuden or Bleach fillers as much.

One Piece pre-timeskip had great filler

Yu Yu Hakusho had great filler throughout as well... in fact, it's an adaptation that's arguably better than the manga itself.

YYH had hardly any filler. Most of it was just small additions to fights. Part of the reason YYH's manga is so mediocre is because Togashi can't work on a tight schedule (hiatusxhiatus) and his art is borderline atrocious at some points.

Yu Yu Hakusho, Gintama, and Fist of the North Star are good examples of nice fillers.

I personally liked the Other World Tournament, taking out the part where Pikkon two-shots Cell and a few episodes later can barely defeat Goku.
