As opposed to taking events within the story at face value, it is better to acknowledge the story as a whole, such as it was meant to be. This perspective dictates that Dragonball as a whole should be considered; material that was intended to apart of the official continuity as opposed to selective representations of ones own personal canon; meaning that Dragonball Super is a reflection of what Akira Toriyama originally intended and it builds on previously established logic. Coincidentally, people argue that Akira Toriyama has gone senile and cannot accurately recollect the events within his own story, regardless, he has reassured the fans that he definitely re-read the entire original Japanese Manga, and since Japanese is his official language and he is the original author, his comprehension regarding said material is more accurate by default. Because of this, analytical assertion from an entire community cannot be justifiable by their own observations, because if it collaborates with the true intention of the original author then it's also a reflection of inadequacy and contradiction. Do you really hold yourself to a higher degree of authority then the original author? Aside from this, one can definitely paint a fine line between their personal canon and the actual canon, but there is a serious problem when one holds their personal canon to a higher degree then Akira Toriyama's or says that the Manga takes place in a separate continuity then Dragonball Super.
