So? Vegeta learned the Final Flash in the Rosat and got a huge boost at the same time, and Goku himself learned 2 advanced techniques and still got a massive boost during the Saiyan arc.
Vegeta learned ASSjin in 2 months so he had a plenty of time to learn and get stronger. Goku was training to get stronger and learned 2 techniques opposed learning an attack on the whole time which gives no time to train to get stronger.

Goku had just completed his Genki dama training by the time the Earthlings revived him, so he clearly spent a great chunk of his time mastering both those attacks. Yet he had time to get stronger. No reason he couldn't pull off the same in over a year on Yardrat.

Well there's a gravity on King Kai's planet, plus the effect of training in 150 days there is like a thousand years right? Moreover, there's no time in there. EITHER way, :sure

Furiza isn't even sure he's could beat goku, just that he'd powered up immensely.
Chapter: 330 (DBZ 136), P13.3-4
Cold: “The Earthlings don’t matter, but the Super Saiyan alone we absolutely must exterminate, by any means. The one who holds the greatest power in the universe must without a doubt be our clan”
Freeza: “We can definitely defeat him if we go at him together, Papa. And I’ve powered up too, so I think I can probably go alone.

He seems pretty confident. There's also the possibility that he expected Goku to be stronger, given he knew about zenkais and knew how Saiyans grew strong quickly (which is the reason he exterminated them in the first place).

Even disregarding that, Freeza was already close to SS Goku on Namek, so even with a marginal increase, it seems rather unlikely that he'd still fall short of that level.

Trunks isn't fighting to kill etc.
Yes, but he still says that Goku was even better than the rumors. Unless you're trying to argue that Trunks expected Goku to be weaker than himself, which to me seems pretty silly given he knew that Gohan (who he's not much stronger than) never reached Goku's level of strength. In other words:

Trunks >~ Future Gohan

Goku (Yardrat) > Goku (rumors) > Future Gohan

Future Trunks and Piccolo get big enough gains just by training on Earth (not just in DBS), so yeah :sure

Yea, good point. It's quite possible Freeza expected Goku to be even stronger than before. Which really adds a lot to the the gap. But yea, Freeza wasn't hardly behind at all before, he's powered up, he should be able to win.

Trunks should be massively stronger than Freeza. That's the point of the whole thing. Hey, here's the main villain of the series and he can even beat Goku now! Oh wait, new guy destroys him only to reveal that he faces an enemy so great he has no chance! No Way!
