Interviewer : The Kaiōshin are said to have the highest status in the universe, but how can you become a Kaiōshin?

Akira Toriyama, the GOAT : No one can. Kaiōshin are born as Kaiōshin. There are three of them, and they work in shifts. Though there are two of them on duty now, if one of the Kaiōshin were to die in an accident, then the currently-inactive Kaiōshin would grow in the Kaiōshin Realm like a plant. If there aren’t any accidents, then it’s said their lifespans are about 75,000 years.

Doesn't it contradict Zamasu being trained to become a Kaioshin?

Different rules for different universes? Either way, it's Super. No surprise.

Oh, I see now. But can you think of any reason as to why someone would say it isn't contradictory?

The Kaioshin are made up of one race, and that race is trained in order to the job. Zamasu was called a god before he was even promoted. Where's the contradiction?

I can't honestly link to where it was taken from since I have taken it from some other guy, but I can guarantee its veracity.

What? Akira Toriyama stated that no one (meaning that there isn't anyone) can become a Kaioshin, yet we saw someone (unless you assume Zamasu isn't considered "someone") being trained to become a Kaioshin... Akira Toriyama even stated that Kaioshin are born as Kaioshins, which is contradicted by some Kaio being trained to become one. Hell, iirc it was even stated that Shin initially wasn't a Kaioshin as well.

That it's a legit interview, although I don't know from where it came from exactly.
