Babidi's magic vs Old Kaioshin's magic, which potential unlock is better?

Both of them can make someone get far more stronger and surpass their limits. But, which is better and gives more benefits?

Well the Elder Kaioshin's gave Gohan a much bigger boost than Majin Vegeta got but Gohan is stated to have the most hidden potential by far, so I am not sure. The potential boosts are really just plot gains. The sacred water was supposed to draw out Goku's hidden potential all the way back in the Daimao arc, but that obviously wasn't the case.

Old Kaioshin's takes much longer, so I'd expect it to be stronger. Maybe it draws out lots of future potential or maybe all of their past lost potential (from not training properly. For Gohan this would be a lot), whereas the other boosts only draw out the body's potential from around the time of the unlock.

Babidi's magic: Draws out power to limits.
Old Kaioshin's magic: Draws out power beyond limits.

Why is this even a thread?

I believe Vegeta had SS2 before he became Majin. It just put him higher into the SS2 tier than he was already. Gohan was a rusty SS2 who trained for a day and sat on his butt for hours on end and went from low SS2 tier to SS3+ tier. Gohan jumped into an entire new bracket of power. Verdict = Old Kai's method is way better.

Of course Vegeta had SSJ2. Do you think he’d just let Goku and Gohan become even stronger than him compared to the Cell Games?

Chapter: 456 (DBZ 262), P4.3
Context: as Babidi takes control of Vegeta
Babidi: “While I’m at it, I’ll draw out his hidden power to beyond [his? its?] limits!”

To be fair, Old Kaioshin pushes says he pushes it "waaaaaaaay" beyond limits.

Vegeta's current limits were obviously different from Gohan's "absolute" (At least in the context of the old series) limits.

Are you serious?
Unless you believe Vegeta could have never reached that level by himself even if he trained for the rest of his life, Babidi was exaggerating.

Old Kai introduced his "beyond limits" magic as if it were something new. That doesn't make sense if we had already seen it before.

Well, Vegeta had far less potential than Goku and he considers that Goku has an innate talent, so he can't step up to him. Also it could be talking about Vegeta's current limit rather than Vegeta's whole limit as saiyans doesn't have limits.

Or he could just mean that by the time he reached that level Goku would have become even stronger, so he would never catch up by training.

It's equally possible, problem is, how Vegeta realized that every time is outclassed by Goku and how Goku came out always on top of him. But Vegeta made that realization after realizing how his strength was below Goku's all the time, but he couldn't tell.

As for Old Kaioshin, Goku didn't considered that ability as something "extraordinary" initially:
