Bacterian and Ranfan

How strong are those two? Do we even have any clear indication they're above regular martial artists level? Yamcha calls Bacterian's strength "fearsome" but his presence doesn't make Yamcha doubt his chances like Kuririn did. Ranfan has some feats on Namu but they aren't anything special. Gimmicks aside can either of those two take on BoDB folks?

Who are we talking about with BoDB? They were definitely above regular martial artists. The 21st Budokai was full of real martial artists (unlike the ones post 23rd) and they were good enough to make the finals. I've got both of them above BoDB Goku by a small amount. Could Ranfan beat him in a fight? Maybe not. But her feats can't be denied regardless of her gag.

I think Ranfan would give Krillin a challenge.

Ranfan was able to make Namu scream with an off-guard punch, compared to Goku's milder reaction to Giran's off-guard attack. She should be comparable to Giran from that alone. Meanwhile, the same Kuririn who was presented as being a league above BoDB Goku from Goku's reactions to their gains in the preliminaries still took some damage from Bacterian's attacks, so Bacterian should be at minimum above that version of Galu.

They're hard to gauge since at the end of the day, they were just gimmick fighters.

Ranfan was able to cause Nam to screech in pain from one of her attacks, but it seemed to be played up for laughs and it's been established sneak attacks can do great damage to significantly stronger opponents if their guard is down.

Bacterian has a bit more going for him as Yamcha actually seemed to hold his physical strength in high regards and he remained conscious from a serious kick delivered by Krillin which Jackie Chun complimented.

Ranfan also dodged a serious hit from Namu, which is a fairly impressive feat. Her being KO’d with a light chop makes her appear weak though…

Considering even BoDB Galu ought to be just as easily KO'd based on his reactions to his gains in the preliminaries, I wouldn't really say it makes Ranfan look too weak.

But is she on Giran’s level? Guy took a full on punch to the stomach. Ranfan could hurt Namu more than Giran could hurt Goku, but also got taken out easier.

I think the Orin Temple students was more or less the general level of the preliminary contestants, and the announcer was surprised by Ranfan's striping tactic implying she won the preliminary by her own strength.

Yamcha actually called Bacterian fearsome and the fact that he wasn't one-shotted by Post-Turtle Hermit School Kuririn's kick which was treated as a monstrous gain than anything him and Goku have done beforehand speaks for itself.

I am inclined to say they are equal to, if not stronger than BODB Goku.
