In episode 22, Tagoma completely tanks Piccolo's punch to the face.

Gohan says (pre-Ginyu) Tagoma's hiding power on par with his own in peak condition. But as we see later, he seems to just mean his base form

Super is such a strange place. Is it really all that difficult to write Gohan appropriately? I mean, it wouldn't be very long for Super Saiyan God to show up and then you can discard Gohan reasonably. They dropped the ball big time here with all of this stuff.

Gohan and Gotenks putting up the major battles against Beerus should have been highlighted and then Super Saiyan God's emergence would have blown past the fusion power.

Also, Vegeta attaining this level of power on his own ( and never being able to even get SSJ3 on his own ) is ROFL bullshit. Raging Vegeta too. Meh...

Base Gohan > Piccolo was already confirmed in the last episode when Tagoma said that he wanted to take out the strongest out of the Z Fighters after he shot Gohan and Shisami in the back.

Because GT Gohan trained and his his Ultimate-exclusive traits. DBS Gohan didn't train and doesn't have his Ultimate-exclusive traits. They're literally complete opposites.

His emphasis on whether he can turn Super Saiyan or not really seals the deal on him inexplicably losing Ultimate between the BoG and RF arcs. It kind of seals the deal on him being retconned to have never had it in the first place.

Why the fuck is he even talking about Super Saiyan? The context makes it clear that he's worried he got too rusty to do so. It's not anything to do with Super Saiyan interacting with his Ultimate form.

Piccolo was still lowering his powers not to kill and misread Tagoma's power until it was too late.
