I'd agree with this. Mr. Buu was impressive against Kid Buu, much more than I thought.

I'm taking into account the possibility of Base Gotenks post = Fat Buu, which was stated by Trunks. Fat Buu is obviously weaker than Kid Buu and Good Buu is less than half of Fat Buu's original power.

Kid Buu was dealing too much time against Good Buu, who was progressively getting weaker as stated by Vegeta. And this is a Buu that doesn't get tired (as opposed of Gotenks) as stated by Goku:

Context: after Goku fights pure Boo for awhile
Goku: “…Dammit…! Like I thought, even if I keep doing the same thing, that bastard’s stamina doesn’t fall…! He just returns to being good as new right away…”

The only possibilities are Fat Buu (the one he fought) and Super Buu (which was proven to be wrong). Therefore, since Gotenks didn't prove how much he progressed from pre to post, we have to take this at face value to actually estimate his power.

Buu's ki is like a lie, they misjudged him. But based on their misjudgements we can tell that Estimated Super Buu >>> Fat Buu.

That is just something Goku come up with to justify why he didn't finish Fat Buu when he had the chance to.

I don't think that could be the case, even after Piccolo told them that Super Buu is more powerful in every way than Fat Buu (they doesn't seem to be paying attention tho), the only reason Goten (since Trunks doesn't seem to be taking things that seriously until later) began to take things seriously is due to Chichi getting killed in the hands of this new Buu.

Also judging by how Trunks speaks he is comparing his fused self pre in relation to his current fused self, and how he stack up against Buu by now, as well as how Gotenks stack up against Buu now.

Because at the beginning, Fat Buu wasn't someone quite powerful, but Goku is there to inform the reader that he is hiding a lot more of power and they have to be cautious. When Buu makes a power up, Goku says that only he and Vegeta would be able to beat him if they were together without knowing his regeneration capabilities.

Piccolo just told them that and at the beginning they doesn't seem to be in a hurry nor to take things seriously, when Chichi got killed, then Goten began to do it (Trunks still was taking his time and this is a Trunks that knows that his father died because of Buu), although Buu hasn't done anything impressive in their eyes or something that he would be unable to do before. Piccolo and Trunks expresses two diferent possibilities, Piccolo states that Gotenks might be able to win and Trunks that they would fight him evenly.

The quote alone seems to be referring to Base Gotenks pre losing to Fat Buu.

Well, Buu was continuosly coming back against Beerus. I don't think their performances mean much, either.
