*Trunks flat out said they couldn't win head to head even as SSJs because of the suit holding them back, so the Kids can still be worlds above 18 and struggle like that. They recovered from 18 slaming them head first against the ring like nothing, after all.

As for Shin >> Kamiccolo, it's not because of Kamiccolo's statement as he could not sense Shin, but because of Shin's confidence to fight Kamiccolo on the Budokai.

Shin's confidence? To me, it was because of Shin's position of authority. He is the Lord of Lords while Piccolo was once guardian of Earth. When Piccolo revealed Shin is the Lord of Lords, Goku, Kuririn, Gohan, and even Vegeta was shock. To all of them, including Piccolo, being a God, especially God of Gods must mean you are powerful, which Shin is, just not as powerful as the full blooded Saiyans because you've to make the full blooded Saiyans look strong.
