How close were they for Trunks to be able to send Cell flying?

I think Cell is suppressed. Trunks still ends up using Super saiyan as well. But he's clearly much stronger than he used to be as a Super Saiyan.


Imperfect Cell > Base Trunks > Ssj Trunks (Androids)

Somewhat related, but what do we make of SSJ Trunks not one shotting Cell? Cell actually took his punch fairly well. Inconsistency?

I used to think Cell shitting himself and saying “so you did beat the androids” or something like that meant Base Trunks > Androids. But it just means Trunks improved to a unknown degree. Add another impressive feat to the Kiais.

As for Trunks not one shotting Cell, I guess he just wanted to launch him on the air and fire a FP blast? That blast did look unecessarily large, and firing those near Earth is always dangerous.

Yeah, I'd say so. Semi Perfect Cell can one shot Imperfect Cell, so a CG level opponent should easily be able to.

I think that happened due to Cell understimating him; he didn't expect Trunks to have gotten stronger and that he stayed at the same level when he was unable to defeat the androids, we also have seen 70% Freeza being able to push back SSJ Goku, so I don't think it's that big of a achievement.

Also, Cell just shows aura when Trunks becomes into a SSJ, so perhaps he wasn't serious before of that.

Yeah, he wasn't. But we know the Base Saiyans are stronger than a Post Rosat Piccolo, so Trunks power should be somewhere close to Cell here regardless.

It is. He could probably pull a Vegeta vs Saibaman and kill Cell from 10ft away by pointing at him. I guess that would’ve been anticlimatic though.

Without a doubt. Toriyama should have made this scene far more in Trunks favor than he did.
