That's debatable I guess. But that'd just make Popo even further stronger than Tenshinhan.

How is it debatable? Goku has a hole through his chest, no use of any of his limbs. He has been thoroughly fucked up worse than he's ever been hurt before. If he doesn't get a zenkai here, when would he in Dragonball? Kuririn states that he always got stronger after a fierce fight. This is the fiercest fight he's ever fought.

Thought you meant post Piccolo Daimao battle before the 23rd TB. I didn't even mention Goku post Piccolo Junior though... dunno if it's important for the topic.

I agree. Even though Kuririn only mentioned "through fierce battle", I think the Zenkais only happened when Goku was close to death, as it was that way the Zenkai was constantly described through the Saiyan and Freeza's saga. But it's tough to define near death... was Goku near death after Muscle Tower? What about after Tambourine? He didn't need medical treatments in those cases (only a good meal) and yet appeared to have gotten stronger.

The only true near deaths were post old Daimao and 23rd imo. 22nd/Tambourine, Muscle Tower and 21st were basically fixed with a large meal and post Piccolo Daimao (young) wasn't any danger to his life, it was mainly the broken limbs.

23rd Piccolo is 4x Kami.

BOZ Piccolo may be upwards of 8-10x Kami.

Kami is nothing. A severely injured Piccolo thinks he can defeat the humans and Kami with ease. Piccolo's injuries sustained make him appear to be way more damaged than Gohan was against Cell, and Gohan was less than half power there.

-Post 21st TB/ Muscle Tower/ Tambourine: Just fought to his limits and got a small increase.
-Post Old Piccolo: Not really injured, he just had the wind knocked out of him. I'm pretty sure
he'd have been okay with a nap and a meal. Not an increase.
-Post Young Piccolo/Piccolo Jr: Same kind of damage he sustained against Vegeta. Zenkai.

Against Old PD he almost died. I think his heart even stopped. Yajirobe had to carry him on his back.

He had no injuries, he could stand on his feet. It seems the same kind of damage he'd got at muscle tower.

He wasn't merely knocked out, he was clinically dead for a few minutes. That's far worse than merely having 3 of your limbs broken like post young daimao (considering the former would kill anyone not Saiyan).

Plus, him standing was after they'd driven for hours to get to karin tower
