At minute 25 of this video, Goku says to Piccolo: "I see You have also trained very hard."

That was right after Piccolo took off his Weighted Clothing and his power rose to 408.

Piccolo (Weighted) had a power of 322 and that power was more or less what Goku expected Piccolo to have after 5 years of training.

So Goku, before I knew I had Heavy Clothes, expected him to have maintained his power from 5 years ago, even though Piccolo had promised to train very hard to one day defeat Goku?

I don't think Toei even intended it to be a power statement, just padding to drag out the episode enough for it to not catch up to the manga. Toei contradicts these types of statements all the time on their own anyway, like how some sources state Goku hadn't gotten any weaker upon turning to a kid in GT only to state he isn't as strong as before in others.

They sure do. But I'm not interested in the contradicted statements, I'm interested in the uncontradicted statements. Have you seen anything that contradicts this power statement? I haven't as of yet.

If it weren't for Goku's comment, I could think of Goku (Weighted) = Goku (TB23).

With what Goku said, it's clear that Piccolo (Without Heavy Clothing) is at least >> Piccolo (TB23) and there is no such difference between Piccolo (FP) over Piccolo (Heavy Clothing).

How irresponsible would Goku be to only increase his power 1.25x in those 5 years and leave the fate of the World in his hands, knowing that Piccolo would be training to defeat him.

Yeah. You guys know I'm a manga purist. But I do really have a hard time rationalizing against uncontradicted anime/guidebook implications.

Like at a certain point, if I have no evidence that they are wrong, what am I really doing here?
