Broly Movie -- Goku not teleporting to Kaioshin's world

So we know that in the most recent movie, Goku chose to teleport to where Piccolo was and perform the steps to achieve the Metamorian fusion... But an easier alternative (one that didn't suffer from the burden of needing to perform the steps) would be teleporting to Kaioshin's world and getting the Potatas... But he didn't. Out-of Universe, we can easily conclude that AT wanted to showcase Gogeta simply for the fanservice. But maybe in Universe we could say that Goku simply couldn't sense Shin's chi, like it's hinted at the manga?

There is no in universe explanation, Gogeta lasts half as long as Vegetto, Gogeta is weaker, and they wouldn't have to waste an hour of time teaching it to Vegeta. They simply wanted Gogeta instead of Vegetto.

I haven’t seen the movie so I can’t comment on that.. but the second part of your post is driving me insane. I’m like 99% sure that Kaioshin was sensed or implied to be sensed within Super at some point but I can’t find it anywhere. My dementia is acting up.

Goku and Vegeta learned how to sense god ki in the Super anime. Not in the manga though.

Yeah, in the anime they make note of now being able to sense God's chi, post their Whis' training. Don't think there's such in the manga though, so AT could of been running with the idea that Goku and Vegeta haven't such ability yet.

Because Fusion Dance can sustain the power of SSjinB than Potara is the only explanation.

Another one I can think is that they tried to make Potara = Metamorian Fusion as much as possible. You could say the same thing about the Potara during the Boo arc as well. Goku could have picked Gohan and teleport to Kaioshin's realm along with Dende and teach him how to fuse. But they insisted using the Potara since outside of universe explanation Toriyama doesn't want to use Gogeta again since Toei already done it.
