Buff Buu should have never existed

Buff Buu screws up the lore and power scaling monstrously. With his power greater than Super Buu, if Kaioshin absorption works additionally like with mortals, it would mean somehow South Kaioshin was strong enough to free the Z sword but didn't. If it works more exponentially then it's just very out of place with the rest of the scaling.

Furthermore the anime keeps the manga's implication that Buff Buu > Kid Buu, but then throws that out to say Kid Buu is the strongest. So it's inconsistent and contradictory.

If Super Buu went straight into Kid Buu form it would be perfectly fine to have Kid Buu either weaker or stronger than Buuhan, because only Dai Kaioshin's influence would be a factor, and it would streamline the lore and scaling considerably.

Dragon Ball SD even skipped all Super Buu forms and just had Fat Buu expel Kid Buu, which should be an acknowledgment as to how unnecessary the other Buu forms were to the plot.

As it stands originally no matter whether you go anime or manga route, Buff Buu's scaling always requires something to be "headcanoned" away no matter the interpretation you go for.

I agree. The Buff form was a really useless transformation anyway, you can delete it from canon and nothing would change.

An interesting question is, where did Buff Buu's power go? Many of us think that Good Buu absorbed South Kaioshin's essence, allowing him to restore the power he had lost which is why he's treated like same Majin Buu he used to be. He also fights well against Kid Buu to boot.

I think Good Buu somehow steals that power back, but it only works additionally now and not exponentially like it did with Buu. Ah, stumbled upon a new formula now, not sure if this has been explored, but possibly.


Evil Buu = South Kaioshin
Good Buu = Dai Kaioshin

This is actually great placement imo.

East Kaioshin is embarassingly weaksauce if this is the case. He's not even beyond Base Saiyans and these guys are high tier Super Saiyan 2s.

In general, Buff forms in Freeza (they could just have stayed him as he always was in his 100%), Trunks or Cell were also unnecesary, they played nothing in the plot and were totally useless.

And the transformation doesn’t even make sense. If they removed all influence from him, why is he becoming South Kaioshin? Where even is South? Is he lost somewhere in Kid Boo?

That’s pretty much, although Dai is the boss and South is an anomaly. North and West are probably below SSJ Gohan, but closer to SSJ level than to Shin.

All the opposite IMO. Buff Boo's existence is actually the only way for Evil Boo to be stronger than Pure Boo. Think of this like that:

We know Toriyama changed his mind during the Boo Saga and wanted to have Goku to be the final hero. But since Evil Boo was a lot stronger than Goku, Toriyama likely made up Pure Boo so Goku can fight against him. So the logical explanation is that Toriyama gave Boo two absorptions, one that made Pure Boo stronger and one that made him weaker. That way we can get the following reasoning behind Boo's transformations as Fat Boo (weakened Pure Boo) is most of Pure Boo's power but weaker, while Evil Boo (stronger than Pure Boo) is most of Buff Boo's (Pure Boo with South Kaioshin) power.

The problem is the weird huge power up that South Kaioshin gave Boo, because Evil Boo is should be multiple times stronger than Pure Boo. I guess Toriyama was in a rush and didn't put much of a thought behind that due to the change he made in the middle of the Boo Saga.

But yeah, it makes it pretty absurd for Buff Boo to be so strong, from "in universe: perspective. Especially when it was never directly said that South made Pure Boo massively stronger.

Either:

1. By Evil Buu > Pure Buu, just say Evil Buu can use the full might of Innocent Buu with Pure Buu.

2. By Pure Buu > Evil Buu, say Dai Kaioshin still had influence to subdue Buu's power, like we already do with Huge Buu.

It makes sense. Buff Buu is unrestrained Kid Buu accessing full power. Super Buu still has some Kaioshin influence over him restricting him and holding him back. Kid Buu is a pure terror. South Kaioshin has no influence over him mentality, but has tons of power to offer. Dai Kaioshin has no influence over him strength wise, but is strongly influencing him mentally.
