I’ll give each episode a thumbs up or thumbs down. Each thumbs up will be half a point and in the end they’ll add up for a 10 points score, with points added or deducted from the overall flow of the series.

Episode 1 has a greatly animated recap of the Boo Saga (and surprisingly consistent too) and establishes the bad guys. Aside from the Pride Trooper wardrobe I like Gomah’s design; he’s clearly a chump, a mook who only became boss by pure luck. Dengesu is literally just evil Shin and it makes for some comedy. Nevah is already established to be an incredibly powerful magician for the next episodes. Nothing to say about Arinsu yet.

As for the main cast. I really like Goku’s Gi here. It looks very real, you know? DB is by no means supposed to be “real” but Goku looks really cool here. Kibitoshin being unfused already tells me Super was just a collective delirium which is good. I’ll never forgive Toriyama for excluding Gohan though, and Dende still being a kid feels off (Though that’s been a problem since the Boo Saga).

Shenlong being biased and petty is something I always suspected and it’s confirmed here. Getting ahead of myself, but he ends up being the real MVP here denying Gomah a second wish next episode. When it seems like not even Dende can stop the bad guys from hijacking the DBs, Shenlong himself, who the demons saw as a mere tool, steps in and says “Nuh uh”. Great.

Thumbs up for this one👍
