There's no reason to think he initially attacked Gohan with less power than he was using against Goku.

Less effort, he keeps underrestimating Gohan until Goku pointed out that Gohan is still alive. After he got serious, Gohan can't even hold his own and got owned.

What is there to prove? Cell just increased his speed in order to own Gohan's ass, the same power he used against Goku. Maybe you should prove first that Cell against Gohan is stronger than Cell who fought Goku. Also, Cell keeps taking Gohan less seriously and still wants to fight Goku after he sense Gohan's full power.

Maybe you should prove first that Cell against Gohan is stronger than Cell who fought Goku.

You prove Cell (initially vs Gohan) < Cell (vs Goku).

Also, Cell keeps taking Gohan less seriously and still wants to fight Goku after he sense Gohan's full power.

He underestimated Gohan. Goku is the strongestm there, so if he thought he took out Gohan then Goku is the one he'll be picking.
