What's your explanation for Cell being able to regenerate with half his upper body blown off, despite him saying his core exists in his head?

I personally think that Gero wouldn't have programmed his ultimate creation to have such a ridiculously obvious weakness, and that there exists a secondary core in his pelvis which exists as a backup similar to Desty Nova having a secondary chip brain in Alita. When the primary core in his head is intact, the connection between the two cores causes the secondary core in his lower body to remain dormant, and when severed, the secondary core will use the remainder of Ki left in his lower body to regenerate the lost body parts, primary core and all, and then return to being dormant afterwards.

Thoughts, bitch ass niggas?

There is no plot hole. Cell could regenerate his whole upper body because his regenerative capabilities were far more advanced than Piccolo's. However, when only a few cells were left, even his regenerative capabilities weren't enough. He was lucky that the core in his head happened to remain intact.

One theory passed around is that Cell can move his nucleus, so when Goku blasted him he pulled the nucleus into his stomach area.

This means he doesn't need the core in his head to regenerate, contradicting what he says later.

They were enough, seeing as he could still regenerate when only a few cells were left after he self-destructed.

It wasn't intact when Goku blew off his entire upper body, yet he could still regenerate.

Your head canon sucks lol. It's a plot hole.

The core isn't needed for regeneration in general. It's activated as an emergency back-up regenerative protocol when only few cells are left. If a large number of cells are still intact, such as when Goku blew up only his upper body, his normal regeneration can do the job. The core was blown up too in that case, but it was regenerated along with the rest of his upper body, since the number of cells left was big enough for his normal regeneration to restore him.

That's not what Cell says, but nice head canon

He was wrong. He can regenerate from anywhere.

Pelvis isn't enough, since he blew himself up. He was wrong thinking he survived because his head was undamaged. No way he didn't damage his head.

Doofus didn't even know that Piccolo could regenerate. Didn't read his own manual properly.

Maybe he can move his core to the lower parts instantly haha. Or maybe he misled Gohan by pointing at his head to indicate the core was there (to make Gohan focus on that part) when it was in his lower body. Those would be the only plausible ones I could think and the second one takes a lot of assumption ofc.
