How strong do you think he should be? I have issue with making him as strong as his previous Ssj2 self. I’d like to avoid that if I can.

I'm not sure if we're to take Vegeta's line into account though. Not only is it exclusive to the manga, but I don't think Vegeta knows 17 saw everything inside of Cell, did he?

But the Super manga says Kid Trunks right before ToP is equal with Future Trunks at the CG, which puts Post Rosat Kid Trunks only equal to a Cell Jr.

Exactly, Vegeta outright states Kid Trunks = Future Trunks. I’d like to see the Japanese for that, do they have that over in Kanzenshuu, I’m sure someone requested it?

Future Trunks is able to match Z-Sword Gohan, yet, Future Dabura is still a bit superior, even capable of taking blows from Super Saiyan 2 Z-Sword Trunks.

I’m leaning towards Trunks and Gohan getting different gains. Trunks seems to be Boo Saga Goku level when Gohan is clearly far past his dad… But it’s weird. Granted training gains are inconsistent, but they both did the exact same thing, and if anything Trunks trained longer.

Because the source material directly suggests that Goten wasn't too far off from Gohan but Gohan may have been much weaker prior to the Budokai. I can work with that.

Even in the Buu Saga, they are shown to only be “pretty good” and Goku is unimpressed.
