Yajirobe should win. Him being given direct credit by Krillin is more impressive to me than Chi Chi having a vague statement about being a master.

I think i will just go with the argument of Kami inviting Yaji to train on the lookout and not Chi-Chi to say him (and Chaozu) are stronger.

Chi Chi was too bothered by Gohan's kidnapping and would be useless cuz she wouldn't let Gohan fight. Imagine if she was there while Piccolo is trying to get Gohan to use his attacks against Nappa.

Yeah but nobody even considered her. If anything Gohan being kidnapped would be more motivation for her to fight.

Yeah, this is honestly a great angle, but I feel like she's typecast into Gohan's mother at this point and I don't think Toriyama thought of that. She's a mom now and she's not a fighter.

Where do you place her then? About Chaozu at least?

I'm not so sure. I'd imagine Krillin would've said the same thing about Chaozu if he was in Yajirobe's position.

You'd gain a human who'll cap out much lower than Gohan. You'd lose Gohan. She'd screw up fight night.

Yeah it would have been really cool if Chi-Chi actually did something though just give her one fight to show off her talent. Same with Yajirobe who has insane potential for a human but gets forgotten about because the series had to become all about Saiyans amd somewhat Piccolo.

I'm talking about Chaozu vs Chi-Chi. You got Chi-Chi ahead of him?
No I know. I'm applying my earlier logic to Chaozu. Krillin thought Yajirobe was strong enough to come to the Budokai, I'd imagine he would view Chaozu in a similar light seeing as he completed Karin's training with them.

I'm struggling to picture Chaozu losing to Chi Chi. Maybe he's weaker but his psychic powers would make up the difference.

Yeah, I'm with that.

Yeah, he'd say the same about Chaozu. This is more of a "feels" thing. Yajirobe "feels" like he ought to be comparable to Krillin and Yamcha.

Feel is all there is to go on with some of these 23rd fighters. Chi Chi looks relatively impressive against Goku, but Goku is probably using 1% effort here. He's having a casual conversation during the entire fight and isn't fighting back. It's hard to judge her based on this.

She’s well beyond Chappa at least I’d say

Chappa >= Baba Goku

Krillin, Yamcha, and Jackie all think Goku is screwed and he's only strong enough to pull out a victory if he's lucky.

Chappa >= Baba Goku
Equal at most.

Kurilin, Yamcha, and Roushi think Chapa will challenge based on his rep and nothing more. Gokuu stomping someone who's only about as strong as he was 3 years prior shows his progress.

I think he was chosen due to his latent potential plus the fact that Karin personally knowing Yaji probably made him more worthy candidate in Kami's eyes than Chi-Chi.
