characters doing normal stuff or looking like posing for a photo on the covers?

In the covers for example Goku'd ride a bike or something or Goku wearing Santa-Claus clothes with the others. I see that a-lot with One-Piece and other series.

EDIT: I meant on chapter covers and magazine covers & so-on.

Depends to what extent. Slice of Life manga was already a highly prevalent genre at the time, so not really. Even in Shonen series, Kochikame would have a lot of everyday activities going on with its cast long before Dr. Slump would take a zany spin on that. Within the confines of Battle Shonen with plot continuity, however, it becomes more arguable.

As far as Battle Shonen with those kind of covers that feature more everyday tasks or festivities, it might have been one of the first.

Oh yeah, sorry I just re-read the OP and it wasn't very clear. I meant for covers, not in the actual story.
